Critical Hits
Some spells and all weapons have two kind of effects: normal effect, and critical effect. Critical effect are typically stronger and more powerful than the normal one.
The chance of striking a critical hit is 1/30. This chance can be increased by certain items and spells. Every extra critical hit bonus gives 1/30 additional chance. If you for example have +5 critical hits, your chance of landing a critical hit will be 1/30 + 5/30 = 6/30.
To calculate how much extra damage each +1 critical hit give, subtract the critical hit effect with the normal effect and divide with 30. For example Clock has critical effect 28 and normal effect 15. Each +1 critical hit equals 13/30 extra damage = 0.4. (Most spells give less.)
| Item that affect critical hits | Cost | Bonus |
 | Little Moskito Bag | 200K | +10 HP, +3 critical hits |
 | Mush Mush Cloak | 100K | +2 critical hits |
 | Kritter | 200K | +3 critical hits |
 | Turquoise Dofus | 250K | +4 critical hits |
Critical Failures
A critical failure means that the spell and the remainder of the turn are immediately lost without landing the spell effect. All spells, weapons and cards are subject of critical failures.
As default all characters has a critical failure chance of 1/600. This percentage can be increased by 100 from the spell Rotten Luck. If you for example have +200 critical failure, your chance of critical failure will be 1/600 + 200/600 = 201/600.
Critical failures are especially nasty against spells with low AP cost such as fear. The chance to critical fail at least once can be found in table below. (Fear would be 1 AP = 6 spells. Bubble would be 3 AP = 2 spells.)
| Critical Failure | Six spells | Three spells | Two spells | One spell |
| Base | 1% | 0.5% | 0.3% | 0.2% |
| 1 rotten luck | 67% | 42% | 31% | 17% |
| 2 rotten luck | 91% | 71% | 56% | 34% |
| 3 rotten luck | 98% | 88% | 75% | 50% |
| 4 rotten luck | 99.9% | 96% | 89% | 67% |

Critical failure was confirmed to be 1/600 and not 1/500 as official site says. This was confirmed by casting 5 rotten luck from 5 ecas on one character and still succeeding not to critical failure.
